Robert A. Biss, 212th 68-69

Robert Samuel Biss, 75, died in New Bern, North Carolina on May 18, 2021, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Wilmington, DE on May 26, 1945 to the late Robert Emanuel Biss and Helen Bilbrough Biss. He grew up in North Wilmington and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1964.

Bob was a Vietnam Veteran who served as a sentry dog handler. He always had a fondness for military dogs, especially German Shepherds, including his own dog, King, named after his dog in Vietnam. He was a graduate of the University of Delaware, with a degree in Entomology. He was previously employed by ICI Americas, Inc, later AstraZeneca. He spent the past 25 years running a home-based business. Bob lived in the Wilmington, DE area until moving to New Bern, NC with his son in 2018.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Dawn Gilts (Rob), son Garret Biss, former spouse and life-long friend, Sharon Keirn Biss, and three granddaughters, Katherine Biss, and Claudia and Isabel Gilts.

A memorial service will be held in Wilmington, DE in July. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
