The Rev. Gary Allan Gilreath, 61, of North Wilkesboro, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 at his home.

Rev. Gilreath was born March 2, 1951 in Wilkes County to Claude William and Lela Faye Parris Gilreath. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam Era as a Military Police canine handler. Rev. Gilreath was a minister with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Rev. Gilreath was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Surviving are his son, Joshua Carl-William Gilreath and wife, Lindsey, of Parrish, Fla.; his daughter, Erin Cunningham and husband, David, of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Janice Perry, Sonja Perry and Dolores Rogers of North Wilkesboro; half-brother, Ray Rogers of Winston-Salem; and four grandchildren, Sean Moorefield and Andrew Moorefield, both of Winston-Salem, and Joshua B. Gilreath and Payton Gilreath, both of Parrish, Fla.

Memorial service will be private.
