He was predeceased by : his parents, Hoyt Eugene Bates and Mary Earline Peterman Bates. He is survived by : his grandchildren, Kaylea Grace, Sergeant, Kaylea Grace Bradberry, Brooks Bradberry, Mallory Bates, Madelynn and Meara Thomas; his wife Judy Griffin Bates; his children, Casey Bates (Nikki) and Shelley Thomas (Kurt); his brother Stanley Bates (Vickie); his brother-in-law Steven Griffin (Cindy); his nieces and nephews, Tim Bates, Byron Bates, Taylor Griffin, Macy and Charlsie Griffin; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kyle Bates, Jared Bates (Megan), Dawson Bates, Timothy Bates II, Ariel Boswell (Chad) and Madison Bates; and also, Hoyt Boswell, Paisley Boswell and Caroline Bates.
