Eli Israel Chavez, Co B, 720th MP BN, 69-70

Eli Israel Chavez, 71, of Katy, TX passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

Eli was born in Houston, TX on October 10, 1949 to Tony and Antoinette Espita Chavez. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin high school, and then attended San Jacinto College for two years. Eli honorably served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4. Eli enjoyed cooking, music, watching football and spending time with family. He was an active member at his local VFW, and retired from driving trucks.

Eli was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Antoinette Espita Chavez; and brother, Steven A. Chavez. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; sons, Derrick V. Chavez, Jon A. Chavez and Julian R. Chavez; grandson, Christian J. Chavez; six brothers and five sisters.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 3-7pm at Katy Funeral Home (23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494). A Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 5pm that evening.

Committal at Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038) is to follow on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11:15am.
