It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Rex L Hughes of Fremont, Ohio, born in Lorain, Ohio, who passed away at the age of 70, on July 14, 2021. He was predeceased by : his parents, Clyde Hughes and Marian Hughes (Leshinski); and his brother Jay Hughes. He is survived by : his wife Patricia K. Hughes; and his son Moritz. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; as well as many brothers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21st 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, July 22nd 2021 at 9:00 AM. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 22nd 2021 at 10:00 AM at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church (510 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870).ghes past away and here is the obituary.  Please keep his family and friends in your prayers and thoughts.  

Rex L. Hughes

Fremont – Rex L. Hughes, 70, residing in Fremont, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 1, 1951 in Lorain, OH to the late Clyde and Marian (Leshinski) Hughes.

Rex graduated from Sandusky High School in 1969. He then served in the US Army stationed in Vietnam with the 981 MP CO SD. He eventually fulfilled his dream of finishing his Bachelor of Science Degree at Bowling Green State University in 2014, and was the oldest in his graduating class. Together with his wife, Patty, he owned and operated Hilty Office Supply in Fremont, OH. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, history, model ship building, coin collecting and playing the drums. His greatest joy was his family and pets, most recently his buddy, Booker.

Rex is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Hughes whom he married on April 26, 1985, a loving exchange son, Moritz, in Germany, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; as well as many brothers and sisters in law who loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Rex is preceded in death by his only brother, Jay Hughes, aunts, uncles, and a niece.

Rex loved his Lord, his wife and his country. He hopes to be remembered as an honest and decent man.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky OH. An additional visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 9:00AM until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870. Father Michael Roemmele will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery, Huron, OH.
