Reunion News - 18th, 19th, & 20th of March, 2011
Update - September 29th. 2010
To all our MP Dog Handlers of the 18th. MP Brigade.
We have come a long ways, for not knowing how to do something like this. We now have, thanks to Ray "Tex" Rogers,
a more defined E-Address and 800 number.
It should be easier to reserve your room. They are as follows. www.eltropicanohotel.com - Go to the Rates & Availability link
and click on it. This will take you to the Reservation page. Enter the dates that you want to stay, how many people in your party, and in the Group Code box use the code MPD.
Click on the button "View results" and our group rates will appear. Make sure to use the correct dates or the rates will not appear. To call and make reservations, the toll free
number is 1-866-423-7814.
( The room rates will be $106.00 a night, and the price stands for two days before and two days after the re-union. Parking is $9.00 a day/night. You will enjoy the tropical
setting of the hotel with tropical birds and other animals, there is a swimming pool on top of the hotel if anyone wishes to sun themselves, The hotel can
say it better than us, so go into their site and see more of the hotel.)
Everyone on the list will be receiving ground mail, with their invitation and registration card. Those who have
E-mailed me their names, will also be included on the list. Please try and send us your status, even if you are not coming. We want to know how you are
doing. Please send your registration to Ray Rogers, he will be keeping the head count. Also if you are bringing an item for the silent auction and don't
want to carry it on the plane.(if your not driving) You can send it ahead by mail or parcel To:

We are still working on the itinerary, and want to do as much as we can but still have free time for
those who want to see the sights and do some shopping. For Saturday morning we are working on a tour of the Dog Training School and /or a tour of the
War Dog Hospital at Lackland Air Force Base. On the registration, please note on the back if you want to go on the tour or if you do not, so we know what
size buses to get. We will try on having a schedule for you before we meet, if not we will hand it to you when you register.
Saturday is the re-union dinner and get together. Friday we want to reserve as registration and get acquainted day. We are planning on opening the
Hospitality room then. Free alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks till we run out! On Sunday we are having a brunch in the late morning. All this is still
in the organizing mode at this time. What we have ready at this time is a big San Antonio welcome to all! As we said before, sell your pets and give
your grand children back to your kids, and start making plans to come on down to the river walk in good old San Antone. We are waiting for you with
open arms in the good old Texas Tradition.T he invitations are being prossesed as you all read this.

We are really rocking now. Our members Pete & Lupe Moreno 212th. and Ray "Tex" Rogers 981st. have got us
a real great deal. We will be using and staying at El Tropicano Hotel. The Hospitality room is a conference room as big as Texas tradition. It faces the
San Antonio River, and has a Veranda/Patio so you can sit outside by the river walk. The banquette room will be a good sized one too. The River Barges make a
stop just a few steps across the river where all can go on a tour, or use it as a taxi for a few bucks around $6.00, that's if you know your way around.
In front of the hotel a downtown trolley will pick you up and take you around town, for less then a buck and a half. So there is no need to look around for
other hotels. El Tropicano is the Place to wake up in and enjoy the Texas Morning Sun!
The committee members will be staying there for the 3 day function. We feel it's worth it, and the oldest VFW Post in Texas, Post 76 is just a few blocks away and
accessible by river barge. They usually have some kind of party going on.
Places to visit, will be (El Mercado) The Market place, The Alamo,
La Villita, The Hemis Fair Plaza, The River Mall and many other sites. You will get a map when you get here and you can go from there. You will want to come
to San Antonio for all your other vacations. Remember, Texas is the Greatest Country in the World! - 18th, 19th, & 20th of March, 2011
We are going to set the registration at $100.00 dollars per person, so again we ask that you all participate in bringing what you can for the silent auction
which will be managed by members James D. and Debbie Heard 212th. We are still working on more surprises to make your stay a comfortable one. We will be working
on the registration form in the coming days and will mail them to you as soon as we can. Ray Rogers will be the point of contact for all registrations. We prefer
it that way to keep a good head count and for planning the meal. Even though we need a head count you can still register when you arrive but try to let us know
how many will be in your group if possible. - 18th, 19th, & 20th of March, 2011
