Hi GARY, my name is Michael Tindall, my bunk mate and best friend had a heart attack.
He is now going through the process of trying to get some of his VA benefits, I would hope, that you can Pass this information onto those who new Bobby..
Bobby has not sought help in anyway for PTSD, or any other compensation. Those who served with Bobby at Bam Me Thout.. and those who knew Bobby.? Should please contact me immediately. Can you send an email out to the guys, thank you for your help.

Death Notice for Jerome L. Wertenberger 981st 70-71

This posting was provided by Erin R. Stainaker, Jerome's daughter. Her father died October 20, 2016.

We lost another one. Jerome L. Wertenberger 981st MP Co. Sentry
Cam Ranh Bay, Phan Rang, Da Nang. K-9 Combat MP. He is my hero and the reason I joined the MP Corps. After the war my Dad was HVAC, he was a mechanic and drag racer.
My Dad loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and he bought me my first pony and was my first horsemanship teacher. My Dad taught me how to train dogs, shoot, drive and cook hard tack in a dutch oven.
I don't have any uniformed pics of my Dad, but here he is outside of the 981 and this is his K9 Prince. We have some of his letters from overseas. My Dad never forgave the Army for leaving the dogs there. I am so glad times have changed.
Rest Easy Sergeant. You are and will be dearly missed.
As a family we dealt with the aftermath of the war that he NEVER spoke of but was there with him everyday. I became a VSO with the DAV because of my Dad. It seemed that in every Veteran I was seeing my Dad. I knew how to talk with them, I knew the language and I knew how to listen. I love you Dad, you inspired me in so many aspects of my life. I will carry on, we all will and the world was a better place for having you in it.

Obituary for Harry Savage

Guys just got this notice, note the date 2015 not 2016.

Harry H. Savage Jr., good friend, father, and husband, 68, passed away Aug. 13, 2015, after brief illness. One of his favorite sayings was, “This ain’t no dress rehearsal.” He fervently believed this, and lived his life in such a way.

Harry was born on Nov. 13, 1946, in New York. As he grew up, he lived in many places with his family including Texas, Mexico, and Maryland and finally Miami, Fla.

After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 1966 and worked for a short time before enlisting in the Army. He honorably served his country in Vietnam for 13 months as a canine officer walking patrol with Johan 458X. He returned to the U.S. Border Patrol and was stationed in San Diego. In 1974, Harry transitioned to U.S. Customs. He worked with U.S. Customs until 1983, when he accepted a position at FLETC as an instructor in the Driver and Marine Program. He became branch chief of Marine Law in 1986 and remained until 1996. He made it a point to let you know that Marine Law was the best job he ever had. He was transferred to the Enforcement Techniques Division as a co-division chief and retired in 2001 as acting branch chief for Behavioral Science. Harry was made an honorary Southerner by his peers. He participated in the annual Maggie Valley Motorcycle trip for many years as well as the Sherwood Society. He was an active member of the Brunswick Supper Club and the local VFW Post 2588.

He enjoyed the comradery of the SRTA Car Club and Wednesday night tune-ups. Harry was an avid hunter his entire life. He was an active member of the Skinner Place Hunting Club which was one of his most enjoyable pastimes. Recently, he enjoyed his annual fishing trip with close friends to Lafitte, La. Besides hunting and fishing, Harry loved playing sports including softball and rugby. His true love was coaching his son’s little league baseball teams for many years.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Muriel and Harry H. Savage Sr.; his sister, Susan Clark; and nephew, Jordan Clark. He is survived by his wife Glynda Savage; children Ryan (Heather) Savage and Brandon Savage; and one grandchild, Benjamin Savage.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the VFW Post 2588, the Brunswick Supper Club, the Skinner Place Hunting Club and SRTA Car Club.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Abe Brown officiating.

With deepest sympathy I am posting the following obituary for Richard V. Burke, 981st 70-71.
NOTTINGHAM - Richard "Dick" Vincent Burke, Jr. died unexpectedly at the Charles W. Gerstenberg Care Center in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 14, 2015, at the age of 64.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jean (Cantone) Burke; son, Jameson Richard Burke; brothers, Edmond Burke and his wife Janice who live in Alfred, Maine; Larry Burke of Cape Coral, Florida; Paul Burke of Reading, Massachusetts; a sister, Christine (Burke) Reed of Amesbury, Massachusetts, and 8 nieces and 10 nephews.
Richard was born on May, 25, 1950, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, to Richard and Natalie (Hunt) Burke. He graduated from Reading High School, Reading, Massachusetts in 1968 and attended Northern Essex Community College. In 1969, he enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam in the 981st Military Police Group as a Sentry Dog Handler. After his return from Vietnam he attended Coyne Electrical School in Boston. Richard married Jean (Cantone) Burke on August 16, 1975.
In 1974, he began working for his father's commercial door company, The Parker Company, located in Andover, Massachusetts, and took over the company after his father's death in 2000.
Richard was "a man of the sea." He was an avid scuba diver, and boating enthusiast who captained his 24 ft. Thompson motor boat "the Incognito." He loved sailing with his friends and was a dedicated loving father to his son who supported Jean's passion for taking underwater photographs when traveling to exotic tropical islands with his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dick's memory on line to Vietnam Veterans of America.

Paul Frank Stuart, of East Glenville, NY, departed the confines of this life on March 30, 2016 to join those who have gone before. Paul was born November 9, 1943 in Gloversville, NY to Lloyd and Genevieve (Brooks) Stuart. Paul was a proud member of the fire service with the Wells Volunteer Fire Department and later the East Glenville Fire Department, where he remained a member for the rest of his life. He worked for Price Chopper as a meat inspector/receiver for 27 years, retiring in 2008. After his retirement, Paul also volunteered at Sunnyview Hospital. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Genevieve (Brooks). He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda (Covey) Stuart of Glenville; his daughter, Brenda Howe (Wayne) of Milton; son, Daniel (Kathy) of Glenville, son, Walter (Stephanie) of Schenectady; and daughter, Paula (Ed) of Glenville; a sister, Donna of Anderson, IN; and a brother, Michael (Mary) of Hudson Falls, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In keeping with a long tradition of services to others, Paul has donated his body to the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program to further the education and training of future doctors and nurses. Internment of Paul's ashes will take place at a later date at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Please join Paul's family and friends in sharing his memory and sending him on his journey in a way we know he would enjoy. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. or 1400 for you traditionalists, on April 10th at the East Glenville Fire Department, 443 Saratoga Rd., East Glenville, NY. It’s time to get your green on and be Irish for a weekend, green beer, die the river green, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and get reacquainted with old friends.

Reunion 2017

It is with deep sympathy for the family and friends that I am posting the following death notices:

Arthur J. Schneider, 212th 67-68. This was posted in the Columbia Daily Tribune, Columbia, MO.

Arthur Joseph Schneider, 71, son of the late Arthur C. and Dorothy Schneider, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015. He married Vicki Kay Calloway in 1974, and they had two children.

Per Mr. Schneider’s request, no funeral is planned; rather, his family and friends will celebrate his life at a date to be determined.

Mr. Schneider held three bachelor’s degrees — in education, journalism and criminal justice — a master’s degree in criminal justice and an education specialist degree.

Mr. Schneider was a sentry dog handler for the military police. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged.

Earlier in his career, he worked as an assistant news editor for the Helena Independent Record in Montana. He began work as a reporter for the Columbia Daily Tribune in 1972, then in 1975 worked as a public information specialist for the University of Missouri.

He later was hired as an extension specialist for the University of Missouri and was headquartered in Boonville. He continued this work until he retired.

He served 6½ years on the Central Missouri Food Bank Board, including one as chairman. He also served as chairman for the Harvest House Board in Boonville. He played a major role in the Boonville Outdoor Arts Committee, including in the procurement of the Hannah Cole statue and statues of other Boonville notables.

Mr. Schneider is survived by his wife of 40 years; his children, Arthur C. Schneider and his wife Mindy of Lee’s Summit, and Sarah Schneider-Toro and her husband Carlos of Medellin, Colombia; and four grandchildren, Isabella Schneider, Joseph Schneider, Marcos Antonio Toro Schneider and Miguel Arturo Toro Schneider; and his brother, Chuck Schneider of Vandalia, Ohio, and his wife Mary and their children.

Though not necessary, for those who feel compelled to send flowers, the family asks that you instead make a donation to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Central Missouri.

Carl D. Eriksen, 212th 65-66. This was posted in Traverse City Record Eagle.

AURORA, Colo. — Carl “David” Eriksen passed away at his home in Aurora, Colorado, on Feb. 8, 2016. David was born in Traverse City on July 4, 1942 to the late Perry and Lucile (Weatter) Eriksen.

He attended Traverse City schools, graduating from Central High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Military Police until 1967 when he was wounded during his second tour of duty in Vietnam.

After eventual discharge from Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, he continued to live in the Denver area and worked in security at the Denver Art Museum until retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; and a sister, Sonja Cline, of Traverse City.
A military service was held at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Maynard Kuhns 212th 66-67. Maynard Russell Kuhns, 64, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 18, 2010, in his home. He was the husband of Barbara (Botch) Kuhns. They celebrated their 36th anniversary last month.Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Milton O. and Bertha (Rice) Kuhns. He was employed as a glazier at Allentown Glass before retiring. An Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, Russ was an MP dog handler. Survivors: Surviving with his wife, Barbara, are; daughters, Tracy Luke and her husband Keith of Alexandria, VA, and Kirsten Bickert and her husband Michael of Northampton; a brother, Clifford Kuhns of Allentown; and a sister, Irene Buskirk of Allentown; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Elwood and Charles, and sisters, Betty Achey-Angelou and Jean Loftus. Services: Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pearson Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday at 10:30 in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
